About us
Welcome to Esland Shropshire School
We are an independent SEN (special educational needs) school that provides high-quality, outcome-based learning in a sensory-friendly environment.
We support students between 8 to 18 years-old who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP) and those with a primary need related to Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), anxiety and emotionally based school avoidance, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum based on the National Curriculum programmes of study. However, we also plan and differentiate from the programme to meet our students’ individual needs.
At Esland Shropshire School, we embrace the art of making mistakes. We believe making mistakes is a key part of the learning process, where students can gain insights and grow their understanding of the topics they’re studying and the world around them.
Our aim is for all students to leave our school with renewed confidence, social skills, and academic qualifications that will help them lead independent and fulfilling lives as adults.

We are a member of NASS
The National Association of Independent Schools and Non-Maintained Special Schools (NASS) is an organisation that represents and supports independent and non-maintained special schools for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). NASS acts as a voice for our schools, helping to ensure that they can provide high-quality education and care to students who often have complex and diverse needs. NASS plays a vital role in ensuring that students with SEND in the independent sector have access to appropriate, specialised education and support.
